Recently the Lord has led us (as a family) to a difficult decision that we prayed and wrestled over for some time. It was a decision we made out of obedience and we have been shown, once again, that while following Him bears fruit, it also frequently brings pain.

It is in this time that He has chosen to pour out upon our hearts such wonderful refreshment. Like dry, thirsty lands we have soaked up the rich Word and our souls have been filled to overflowing. Grace. The wonderful grace of Jesus! Personally, I feel that I am understanding in new ways, beyond anything I could have ever hoped or imagined, the sweet grace of God.

Truly, this grace comes from the gospel that must wash our hearts afresh each and every day. In my 20ish years of knowing the love of my Father I never really understood how much the gospel is not just for sinners, but also for the believer. Day in and day out, I must remember that love for others, especially those near and dear to me is propelled by the gospel. Because Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example…committing Himself to Him who judges righteously. Having compassion for one another, love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous, not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this…(1 Peter 2:21, 3:8-9)

I feel that my focus on my husband and children, as well as others, is being renewed. It is all possible through the grace that is being poured out upon us through Christ’s work on the cross. Because He was gracious to me, I must be gracious to others. All the months of pleading to the Lord for a deeper love and compassion for others is being answered in this sweet outpouring.

Thank you Spirit, for enabling me to do what He has called me to do…for it is not my strength that can drum up what I know I need to do. Thank you Father for your wonderful grace! May it be the motivator for every action I take throughout the day.

That was beautiful. It was what I needed to be reminded of today.
